I don't have my favorite building, but I have always been dreaming of to see with my own eyes one of the most beautiful and magnificent castles in the world that is Himeji Castle in Japan. Himeji Castle is located in the center of Himeji City, about 650 kilometers west of Tokyo. It takes about fours hours by bullet train from Tokyo. Himeji Castle is the largest castle in Japan. The history of it began by the construction in 1333. Fortunately, Himeji Castle has never been damaged by warfare, even during the Second World War. That is one of the reasons why Himeji Castle has kept its original form for nearly 400 years. It serves as an excellent example of traditional Japanese castle architecture, containing many of the defensive and architectural features associated with Japanese culture.

Building is nicknamed "White Heron" Castle because of its white walls which are covered with white plaster, which is fireproof. Castle is built of wood so this is very important. Building stands on the top of a hill called Himeyama, which is 45.6 meters above sea level. The main tower, which is the center and the symbol of the castle, is 46.4 meters high. Himeji Castle is famous also for the highly effective and complicated defensive design, which is just like a maze. I heard that even today, with the clearly marked route, many visitors are easily lost.

*In 1993, Himeji Castle was registered on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
