De-Activating a License In Avaya PLDS
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide users with instructions on how to de-activate a license in Avaya PLDS. A customer can manage these using the APLDS application or they may contact their Partner or Avaya Services rep to maintain.

Authentication File
A file that allows secure Avaya service to login to a customers system.
Certificate
Activation Record
The digital or physical representation of an activated entitlement. An activation record contains license keys and files.

End User License Agreement – terminology on most transactions that states you understand the Avaya licensing policy, your terms, and are accepting accountability for the transaction you are completing in the tool
Sold To, FL (functional location)
Group ID
Customer’s site where the software is at.

License Host
Name to identify the machine
MAC, Serial number, Voicemail Domain etc
Host ID
Alpha numeric value that ties the license to a specific machine.
Software Key
License Activation Code (LAC)
An identifier that allows a customer to activate licenses for which they are entitled.
Swap Out
Rehost
When you swap out the license from one machine that has crashed and move it to another machine within the same Group (FL)
Redeliver
Regenerate
When you redeliver the license file to the machine. Will produce a new license file with all of the corresponding licenses on the machine. This will also allow you to change the MAC address, and produce the new file with the new MAC.
Remove, downsize, bring down
Deactivate
Returns previously activated licenses to a pool of available licenses.
Transfer License Host
When you take all the licenses on one machine and move to a new site.
Move
Move licenses from a record (not machine) and move it to another site.
Split
When you share available licenses on a record with multiple sites.

Log into APLDS
Log into AVAYA PLDS at: www.plds.avaya.com

Click Activation
Select Activation from the Home page and select De-Activate.

Find License Activations to De-Activate
By Company Name – not recommended:
1. Enter company name in the %Company: field
2. You may use a wildcard (%) if you do not know the exact name of the company you are searching for
3. Click if you would like to use additional company search criteria before searching for their corresponding entitlements.
Ø Enter name or several characters of the name and a wildcard (%)
Ø Click
Note: Company name is the Parent company and may result very difficult to find as you may not know to what Parent the Avaya Master Data team has associated your customer to. Also, results are case sensitive so you may need to search the entire list to ensure that you see all possible company entries. Entries that were made in all Caps will appear first. You may also need to go to the next page to ensure that you have reviewed all possible results.
By Host ID - recommended:
1. Enter the specific Host ID in the %Host ID: field.
Note: Host ID is the MAC or Voice Mail Domain, this is the best way to search.

Click De-Activate
Click on De-Activate from the appropriate record that is displayed
