Installation of the ASD 9.05.0 Application

 

Install the ASD Application

 

  1. Shutdown all unnecessary applications and save all current application data.  The ASD 9.05.0 Installation package will require that you reboot your system during the installation process.
     
  2. Open Windows Explorer and access the location of the Avaya Solution Designer Tool installation program from your web download on your local hard drive (typically in the c:\temp directory).
     
  3. Double-click on the InstallASD.exe file to start the installation.
     
  4. The following dialog box comes up stating that the Avaya Solution Designer application will be installed.  Click on the Yes button to continue the installation.



     
  5. The following setup file progress indicator will appear indicating that files are being downloaded onto your computer.

Once the setup files have been prepared and the initial welcome screen has been displayed, the following screens will appear:


 


  1. Click on the Next button to continue with the installation.  The following screen will appear:


     
  2. The installation program will create three folders (ges, mqm, trilogy) under the destination folder chosen and all application files will be copied to these folders.  It is recommended that you select the default destination location unless a drive other than C: is desired.  Click on the Next button to continue.  The following confirmation message will appear:


     

Note:  This installation requires 45 MB of free disk space.  Keep this in mind when choosing the installation location.
 


  1. Click on Yes to accept the chosen installation location.  After a few minutes the installation will complete and the following window will appear:


     
  2. The workstation must be rebooted so that the Avaya Solution Designer installation can continue.  This will allow the appropriate Path variables and registry keys to be properly set up.
     

  3. Once the workstation has been rebooted, the initial welcome screen will appear followed by the following:


     
  4. Click on OK to continue the installation.  The following screen appears as the files are being installed on the workstation:


     

  5. Once the all the files have been installed, the following screen will appear:


     
  6. Select the appropriate SAP environment.  If you are not an Avaya SAP user you can use the B1P default and click on NextOnly one SAP environment can be selected.
    Please note that B1P is the production environment for US- or Canada-based users and I2P is the production environment for International users.
    After choosing the SAP environment, click on the Next button.
     

  7. The installation program will update the registry.  Once the registry updates have completed, the Finish screen will appear:


     
  8. Click on Finish to complete the installation.  A reboot is not necessary before using the Avaya Solution Designer application, however, it is recommended.  You will also see a new icon added to your desktop, which will allow you to launch the Avaya Solution Designer.

Monthly ASD Updates

 

Each month, product updates will be available on the web and should be downloaded to keep the ASD application current.  The following steps support the first time installation updates as well as subsequent monthly updates.  Check with your Avaya representative to determine the website that contains the necessary ASD updates.

 

  1. Shutdown all unnecessary applications.
     
  2. Download the appropriate files to your local hard drive and save them in the c:\temp directory.  Typically, there will be an ASD Software Upgrades X.XX.X and ASD Model Upgrades X.XX.X.
     
  3. Open Windows Explorer and access the location (c:\temp from the previous step) your web download of the Monthly Avaya Solution Designer Tool Update installation program on your local hard drive.
     
  4. Double-click on the smbsupdatepackage.exe file to start the installation.


     
  5. Click on the Yes button to continue the installation process.  The following progress indicator appears.


     

  6. When the files have all been extracted, the following command prompt window appears:


    The files will continue to appear and present a number of START: and END: messages associated with the various files.
     
  7. During this process, you will get the following dialog box:



     
  8. Click on the OK button to continue with the installation process:  A short while later, you will receive the following message indicating that the Master Price File Delivery has been completed:


     
  9. A few more files will be installed in the Command Prompt window (the black DOS window from above).  When the Command Prompt window disappears, the ASD Updates Installation is complete.
     
  10. Repeat the steps 3 through 6 (selecting the asd_i2pmodels.exe file) for the Model Upgrades installation package.  No master price file is included with the model upgrades package.
