How to Interpret the DEFINITY® or Avaya™ Communication Manager
IP Features in an RFA license
Overview:
With the introduction of RFA (Remote Feature Activation) and license files came the need to create a correlation schema between the SAP material codes (used to order DEFINITY® or Avaya™ Communication Manager entitlements) and the commands within the license to activate these entitlements. This is accomplished using
Feature Key Words that are found in the RFA System Record (from the RFA System Record, a license is created.) A full explanation of Feature Key Words is posted on the RFA Information Page at: http://rfa.avaya.com, Þ Helpful Information.
Within an RFA license, there can be three features types related to IP features:
· IP Trunks
· IP Stations (any generic H323 endpoint)
· IP Registration (This specifies what the endpoint is ie: IP Hardphone, IP Softphone, IP Softconsole, etc.)
For each of these feature types, there are three areas in an RFA license that may be affected:
· Type I features – have an on/off or yes/no setting.
· Type II features – have a value or capacity setting (alpha or numeric entry).
· Type III features - have a product ID, release, and capacity setting. For example, IP_Soft, release 4, capacity of 100.
What is needed in an RFA license for each feature type?
1. IP Trunks:
· Feature Key words:
· Type II = VALUE_IP_TRK. The numeric entry in the “Setting” column indicates how many IP Trunks have been licensed.
· Type I = FEAT_H323_TRNKS. The entry in the “ON/FF” column needs to read ON.
2. IP Stations:
· Type II = VALUE_IP_STA. The numeric entry in the “Setting” column indicates how many IP Stations have been licensed.
· Type I = FEAT_IP_STNS. The entry in the “ON/OFF” column needs to read ON.
3. IP Registration:
· IP_Agent – Call Center Agents
· IP-eCons – Avaya IP Softconsole
· IP_Phone – Avaya IP Hardphones
· IP-ROMax – Avaya Remote Office (R300)
· IP_Soft = Avaya IP Softphones
These are Type III features and the entries identify the actual endpoints that register with the server. IE: IP Hardphone, IP Softphone, IP Softconsole, etc.
The “Limit” entry indicates the minimum number provided by the offer for a given server or the actual number of RTU’s purchased. Each platform provides different maximum limits. That information is also available in the Feature Keyword Document, see Table 3, as noted in paragraph one above. It is also attached at the end of this document.
NOTE: “Maximum Concurrent Reg IP Sta” in the Type II Features Section, indicates the total number of ports in an H323 session in a given server. The total number of “IP Registrations” may be less than the Maximum Concurrent Reg IP Stations, however if 100% simultaneous accessibility for all endpoints is required, these entries must be equal numbers.
Example: Customer orders a G3si with the following capabilities:
· 50 IP Trunks
· 30 IP Hardphones
· 10 IP Softphones
· 1 IP Softconsole
· 24 R300 Trunks
· 24 R300 Stations
The RFA entries are:
· Type II Feature: VALUE_IP_TRK = 50
· Type I Feature: FEAT_H323_TRNKS = ON
o Type II Feature: VALUE_IP_STA = 41 (30 + 10 + 1)
o Type I Feature: FEAT_IP_STNS=ON
§ Type III Features:
· IP_eCons = Limit 16
· IP_Phone = Limit = 30
· IP_Soft = Limit = 10
· IP_ROMax = Limit = 1500
