Variations: Pants, Knickerbockers,
and Bloomers
If Using Knit Fabric:
-Use a ballpoint needle.
-Sew with a zigzag stitch, stretch stitch or
serger. My favorite zigzag stitch is – length 2.2
and width 2.5 with my needle position all the
way to the right. Using this zigzag stitch and
lining up your fabric with the right side of your
foot will give you a perfect 1/4” seam
allowance.
-Knits are easiest to cut out using a rotary
cutter and cutting mat.
-You will need to stretch the cuffs slightly to
match the leg width.
Three different lengths with cuffs, an elastic
waist casing, and optional front pockets.

-Use a universal or sharp needle.
-Use medium to lightweight fabric.
-Use stretch fabric for the cuffs.
-Slightly stretch the cuffs to match the legs.

Printing Instructions
-Print the pattern on letter size paper at “actual size” or “no scaling”.
Pattern pieces are sized to 8”x10” with a border and will need to be trimmed and taped
together.
Each page has a page number and sides can be matched with names like 1A, 1B, etc.

Optional: Constructing and
Attaching Pockets
1. Lay out one fabric pocket and one
lining pocket.
2. Pin right sides together.
3. Sew with a straight stitch at 1/4”. Do
NOT
sew across the short top edge!
4. Clip inside curve. Trim corners.
Notch outside curve.

5. Turn pocket right
side out.
6. Stitch with a straight
stitch along inside
curve at 1/8”.
7. Pin the pockets to
the pants lining up
the pocket with the
dot on the pattern. (It
is about 4.5” from
center front.)
8. Sew with a straight
stitch all around the
pocket except inside
curve (short side,
bottom, long side,
top). The pockets are
now done.
