4. Cut four strips of red gingham 3 1/2"
by fabric width.
5. Join short ends of two strips to make
a loop; press seams open. Run a
gathering stitch along both long
edges of loop as shown in Figure 1.
Pull stitching to gather one edge to
match outside edges of one center
panel. Pin in place around center
panel, right sides together; stitch.

6. Gather remaining edge gently to
form a flat circle approximately
14 1/2" in diameter. Stay-stitch
around outer edge. Repeat steps 5
and 6 with remaining strips of red
gingham and center panel.
7. Stitch piping around outer edge on
right side of one panel.
8. Insert zipper between the two pieced
panels as shown in Figure 2, follow-
ing instructions given with zipper.
9. Stitch front and back pieces togeth-
er, with zipper open; turn right side
out through zipper.

1. Cut the grocery bag open along the
seams; lay flat on work surface.
Press with a dry iron, if necessary,
to remove excess wrinkles. Draw a
9 1/2"-diameter circle and a 14 1/2"-
diameter circle on paper with per-
manent marker; cut out.
2. Center smaller paper pattern on
fabric panel; cut out. Repeat for a
second panel.
3. Referring to General Instructions,
stitch piping around outside of each
center panel.
Fabric & Batting
• 2 panels or blocks with 9 1/2" x 9
1/2" motifs
• 1/2 yard red gingham
• 2 pieces batting 16" x 16"

10. Cut two pieces quilt batting, using
large circle pattern. Stitch together
around outside edges with a medi-
um-width zigzag stitch, leaving an
opening for stuffing.
11. Stuff firmly with fiberfill; close open-
ing to make a self-made pillow form.
12. Insert pillow form through zipper
opening to finish.

1. Cut one 15" x 15" square for back
and one 4" x 6" piece yellow floral
print for center loop.
2. Fold 4" x 6" yellow floral print strip in
half along length, with right sides to-
gether (for center loop). Stitch along
long, raw edges with a 1/2" seam
allowance as shown in Figure 1.
