Most people today enjoy eating pizza, but do you know about the history of this meal? The oldest pizza restaurant in the world is in Naples, Italy, and it opened in 1830. People in Naples were the first to use tomatoes in pizzas, and so they invented the modern pizza. When Italian people moved to other countries, such as the US, they took their recipes with them. Now, you can buy pizza all over the world! The most famous kind of pizza is a margherita. It’s got a simple topping of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, garlic and herbs. But you can have lots of different things on pizza – chicken, ham, eggs or vegetables.

Some people think that pizza is unhealthy, but it doesn’t have to be. With fresh tomatoes, cheese and other vegetables, a real pizza is healthy and delicious!
